Kauai's Wailua River is a special place. The only
navigable river in the state, the Wailua was once
the home of ancient Hawaiian royalty. Today it is an
adventurer's playground, snaking through waterfalls,
a lava rock grotto and lush jungle forests. The
river itself is wide and tranquil
You'll kayak for 5 miles along the Wailua River,
hike for about a mile on a newly-installed boardwalk
for a much more pleasant and easy experience, until
you reach the 100-foot waterfall called Secret Falls
where you'll enjoy swimming in the pool, take
pictures, have snacks and remember how beautiful
life is. The river has no current for the most
pleasurable kayaking experience. You will most
likely get wet and muddy on your hike. The entire
trip takes 4-5 hours.
